FORS Compliance
What is FORS Compliance?
- Voluntary Accreditation: FORS is a voluntary scheme, but it's increasingly required by large clients and infrastructure projects, especially in London.
- Continuous Improvement: The scheme promotes a cycle of continuous improvement, with members striving for higher standards as they progress through the accreditation levels.
- Broader than Legal Compliance: While it ensures adherence to legal requirements, FORS compliance involves going beyond the basics to achieve exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.
The FORS Accreditation Levels
- FORS Bronze: The foundational level that proves an operation complies with health and safety, driver management, and environmental responsibility standards.
- FORS Silver: Builds on Bronze, demonstrating advanced standards for safety, efficiency, and sustainability. It also signifies compliance with other important standards like CLOCS and Transport for London's Work Related Road Risk (WRRR).
- FORS Gold: The highest level, requiring an advanced approach to environmental performance.
How to Achieve FORS Compliance
- Driver Management: Implement robust systems for monitoring and improving driver behavior and risk exposure.
- Vehicle Safety & Maintenance: Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and equipped with necessary safety features.
- Training & Education: Provide driver and management training to raise awareness of safety, efficiency, and environmental best practices.
- Auditing: Undergo robust audits to verify that your fleet operations meet the FORS Standard and are continuously improving.
- Data & Reporting: Utilize FORS's tools and data to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and evidence compliance.
